Car hire Freiburg Station

General information

Freiburg Hauptbahnhof is Freiburg's central station. The current station was built in 1999 after the original building dating from 1845 was largely destroyed during World War II. The station lies on the Frankfurt-Basel ICE line. The journey takes about 6 hours by train from Amsterdam. Freiburg (im Breisgrau) is located in the southwest of Germany, near the Black Forest and the border between Switzerland and France. The Freiburg Münster cathedral is a well-known attraction in the city center.

Transportation

Do you want to explore Freiburg or its surroundings? You can reach the taxi stand via the exit on the Bismarckallee. Taxis can be found on the left. Buses can be found at the bus station which is situated south of platform 1. You can choose from a large number of destinations, both local and further away from Freiburg. Here you'll also find the city buses. Freiburg's streetcars also stop at the station. Go to the Stadtbahnbrücke and follow the signs which direct you to the two streetcar platforms. Three streetcar lines depart from the station. If you want to rent a car to explore Freiburg, you can choose from several car rental companies.

Services

You can buy tickets at ticket offices or from ticket machines. Freiburg Station also has restrooms, and facilities and assistance for the disabled. In addition, you'll find phone booths and an ATM.

Restaurants

Freiburg Station has many restaurants, bars, and other eating facilities ranging from a quick bite at McDonald's to a Chinese restaurant where you can sit at a table. There's even a nightclub/café 'Kaga' at the upper floor of the office building above the station.

Shops

You can basically find anything you need here. There are a bookstore, a fan shop of the local soccer club, a flower shop, a supermarket, and a drugstore.
