Faro Airport in a nutshell

Faro Airport is the most important airport of the Algarve, in the south of Portugal. It is located seven kilometres to the west of the city of Faro. There are many direct flights from budget airlines in northern Europe, like EasyJet, Flybe and Air Berlin. Most passengers come from Great Britain, Netherlands and Germany. The terminal was recently renovated and Faro Airport is now a modern airport. The Arrival and Departure terminals are connected. Most service desks can be found between the two terminals.

There is no train connection to Faro Airport. It is possible to travel up the coast from the city's train station, but the service is usually slow. The airport is easy to reach by car and there are buses that connect the airport to the bus station, from where passengers are transported via high-speed buses to other locations in the Algarve. The nearest hotel is situated two kilometres from the airport.

There are a reasonable number of bars, coffee shops and shops. The duty-free department has the usual collection on cigarettes, booze and luxury food. The roof terrace (open from April to October) offers a great view of the arriving and departing airplanes. In addition, the airport has (limited) conferencing room (max 65 people), disabled-accessible elevators and toilets, banks, ATM machines, money exchange offices and a post office.
