“Great service”

“"I use EasyTerra about 2 to 3 times a year. Their prices are very reasonable and their service is excellent. Last year I booked a wrong airport by accident. One quick phone call and everything was solved and taken care of. I have no complaints whatsoever about this organization."”

Location information for Haugesund

The Norwegian city Haugesund is a great basis to explore the magnificent fjords on the Norwegian west coast. The city is also famous for the old architecture and the annual Film Festival.

About 50,000 people live in the city itself, in the urban area of Haugesund live 100,000 people.

Haugesund is located in the southwest of Norway, between the bigger cities Bergen (north of Haugesund) and Stavanger (south of the city).

In former times, the city lived of herring fishing. Back then large numbers of herring were around, but that hasn't been the case for a long time. As in many other Norwegian coastal towns the local economy now revolves around drillings for oil and gas in the northern part of the North Sea. Tourism also plays an increasing role.

The airport Haugesund Karmøy is situated seven kilometers southwest of the city. The Scandinavian Airlines SAS maintains mainly domestic flights from this airport; low-cost airlines fly to and from several European destinations. The airport is easily reachable by rental car; from the center you follow the main road (road number 47) to turn at Väge to road number 518. The route to the airport is clearly signposted.

Public Transport

The city has good public bus transportation, arranged by the company Kolumbus. Bus services to other cities (for example Bergen and Stavanger) are arranged by the company Kystbussen. There are also ferry connections to other places along the coast.

Traffic and Parking

A rental car is an ideal means of transportation to explore Haugesund and the surrounding area. Keep in mind that you have to pay a toll on many Norwegian highways.

There are several hotels in Haugesund. You can stay in simple guesthouses, but also in a four star hotel. A special experience is an overnight stay in the lighthouse, just outside Haugesund!
