Location information for Liverpool Airport

Liverpool John Lennon Airport in a nutshell

In 2002, Liverpool Airport was renamed after Beatle John Lennon, 22 years after his violent death in New York. The airport is one of the fastest growing airports in Europe. In 1998, it processed fewer than a million passengers, in 2006 that number had risen to five million.

In 2006, a new train station was opened near the airport. From the terminal building shuttle buses connect to this station. There are also bus services to the station in the centre of Liverpool. The airport is located three kilometres to the south-east of the city centre, and it is easy to reach by car via one of the three motorways.

There are no hotels at the airport, although there are plans to build one. There is a reasonable number of shops and restaurants. On a late arrival, most shops and restaurants are unfortunately closed. On the first floor there is a Business Centre with room for 30 to 80 people. In addition, there are several offices and meeting rooms for hire. In the airport building there are various exchange offices and ATM's. There are computers with Internet access and there is wireless Internet throughout the terminal. The airport is accessible to disabled people.

In the aviation industry Liverpool John Lennon Airport is indicated with the abbreviations LPL (IATA airport code) and EGGP (ICAO airport code).
