Location information for Foligno
Introduction
Foligno is one of the few towns in Umbria in Italy which isn't built on top of a hill. One of the city's main attractions is the annual Giostra della Quintana festival, during which medieval tournaments are enacted. It's held in June and September and during this festival the restaurants serve typical medieval dishes.

The city has almost 60,000 inhabitants.
Location
Foligno is located along the Topino River which rises in the Apennines and flows into the plains nearby the city. Although the city itself lies on a plain, Foligno is surrounded by hills. The city lies in a seismological active area: Foligno was struck by heavy earthquakes in 1832 and 1997.
Economy
Foligno's inhabitants are known as hardworking people, who aren't taken aback by things that cannot be avoided, like an earthquake. The main sources of income are trading and processing of agricultural produce from the surroundings. Foligno is also the official supplier of hemp to the Vatican. The hemp is for example used to make ropes for the church bells.
Airports
The nearest airport is Aeroporto Internazionale dell'Umbria Sant’Egidio in Perugia, over 25 kilometers northwest of Foligno. It is reachable by rental car via the SS75.
Public Transport
Foligno has good public transport. City buses run frequently and usually on time. There are also connections with other cities in central Italy, including Florence and Rome.
