Gerona is situated in Catalonia in the northeast of Spain at about 100 kilometers from Barcelona (1 hour by train). Gerona Train Station dates back to 1862, but has been renovated several times since. From the station it's only a 10-minute walk to the beautiful city center. The old town center has many attractions which are worth visiting. The city is popular among tourists and many visit Gerona on a day trip from Barcelona.
Transportation
If you stay in town, you'll have many means of transportation at your disposal. When leaving the station via the main exit you'll immediately see the taxi stand. The bus station lies next to the station. The city buses leaving here go to all parts of Gerona. You can also take intercity or regional buses to places nearby, or take an international bus, for example to Amsterdam, Paris, and Rome. Or do you want to explore the surroundings at your leisure?
